UMT’s new Executive Certificate Program in Acquisition Management is approved by the Distance Education and Training Council (DETC).

Following the success in UMT’s Executive Certificate Program in Project Management, UMT developed a new program, the Executive Certificate Program in Acquisition Management. On 5 December 2003, UMT received accreditation approval from DETC to officially launch such a program. UMT’s Vice President of Operations, Dr. Eric Kirkland, led the effort to obtain the DETC approval for the program.

As a professional development program, the new Executive Certificate Program in Acquisition Management allows students to enroll in the program and courses at any time. To receive the certificate, students shall enroll and complete a minimum of 150 Professional Development Units (PDUs) worth of study at UMT, comprising at least five courses, within two years. Three required courses for the acquisition management concentration are:Except for these required courses, students in the program can choose any other courses in the Project Management Suite™ that best fit their interests and job needs. There are no pre- or co-requisites for any of these courses during the study. When students complete a minimum of 150 PDUs comprising at least five courses, they receive the Executive Certificate in Acquisition Management.

In addition, the student who has successfully earned a UMT Executive Certificate is qualified to transfer 12 credit-hours toward an academic degree. To enroll in a degree program, a student needs to formally apply and meet UMT admission requirements.
