University of Management and Technology Becomes a Member of the Middle States Commission on Higher Education
ARLINGTON, Virginia, September 4, 2026
The University of Management and Technology (UMT) is pleased to announce that it has been granted accreditation by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE), marking an important milestone in the University’s continued commitment to academic quality, institutional effectiveness, and student success.
On August 27, 2026, the Middle States Commission on Higher Education granted accreditation to UMT after determining that the University had met the requirements of MSCHE’s Addition or Change of Primary Accreditor procedures. UMT is now an accredited institution and member of MSCHE.
“This is an important milestone for UMT and reflects the dedication of our faculty, staff, leadership, and Board of Trustees to maintaining high standards of academic quality and institutional effectiveness,” said Dr. C. Eric Kirkland, Interim President and CEO of UMT. “MSCHE membership strengthens UMT’s foundation as we continue to serve students and working professionals through accessible, high-quality education.”
MSCHE’s accreditation encompasses UMT’s credential levels from postsecondary certificates and associate degrees through bachelor’s, master’s, and professional doctoral degrees and includes distance education within the University’s accredited scope.
UMT was founded in 1998 with a mission to provide accessible, career-relevant higher education to working professionals. Since its founding, the University has expanded its academic programs and served students throughout the United States and around the world.

UMT continues to hold institutional accreditation from the Distance Education Accrediting Commission (DEAC). Its project management programs also hold specialized accreditation from the Project Management Institute Global Accreditation Center for Project Management Education Programs (GAC).
