ARLINGTON, Virginia, June 25, 2012
The University of Management and Technology held its 2012 commencement ceremony and reception on June 23, at the Artisphere in Arlington, VA. UMT alumni who graduated in the past five years were invited. More than 200 participants from the US and overseas attended. During the ceremony, graduate representatives, Dr. Qihan Li, Ms. Christine McCrary and Mr. Einstein Miller shared their memorable learning experiences at UMT with the audience.
In her speech, Dr. Yanping Chen, UMT President, pointed out that graduates attending the commencement that day are part of the 791 graduating class of 2012; and that since its establishment in 1998, UMT has awarded 6,134 degrees at the associate, bachelor, master and doctoral levels and has enrolled 13,996 students who reside in every state of the United States and more than 40 countries worldwide.
Dr. J. Davidson Frame, UMT Academic Dean, remarked during his speech that although UMT is an online school, he recognized more than half of the graduates in attendance, either through grading papers, his travels to China to teach the programs there, or acting as the Dean of the university.
At the conclusion of the ceremony and reception, the graduates gathered at the Iwo Jima Memorial for a group photograph session.
