The UMT 2011 Hong Kong graduation ceremony for both Bachelor's and Master's graduates was successfully held at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University on July 24th, 2011. Dr. Yanping Chen, UMT's President, traveled to Hong Kong to attend the ceremony. Graduate representatives, Mr. Richard Au and Ms. Jo Lam, delivered speeches on behalf of the graduating class. Some five hundred graduates and guests attended the ceremony.

In her speech, Dr. Chen reminded the students that in 1998, UMT was one of the first universities in the United States to pioneer and embrace online education. It is also one of the few universities created to explicitly deliver a global higher education model that leads to the delivery of affordable courses of the highest quality to the students studying abroad in their own countries. UMT created a self-paced, faculty-mentored teaching method to enable the young generation of working adults to balance career and family as well as to experience self-enrichment through higher education. Since its establishment in 1998, UMT has awarded 5,404 degrees at the associate's, bachelor's, master's and doctoral levels and has enrolled 12,318 students who reside in every state of the United States and more than 40 countries worldwide.
