In October 2010, the U.S. Department of Education (ED) approved UMT to participate in the Federal Student Financial Assistance (FSFA) Programs authorized by Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965, as amended (HEA). For the 2011 winter semester, a number of current and new students became the early birds to use Title IV funding either to continue their study or to enroll in new degree programs.

The FSFA program has allowed UMT to offer our already affordable and high quality education programs to these students, who need government grants or loans to continue their higher education with us," said Dr. Chen. "The entire UMT administration is excited about the authorization from the Department of Education and will assist all qualifying students to apply for the applicable FSFA program.

Effective immediately, all qualifying current and prospective students at UMT can apply for any applicable FSFA programs, including Federal Pell Grants, Unsubsidized Federal Stafford loans, Subsidized Federal Stafford loans, and Federal Parent PLUS loans. UMT's Office of Postsecondary Education identification number (OPE ID) is 04110300.
