UMT Designated A "2015 Military Friendly® School" by
G.I. Jobs
ARLINGTON, Virginia, September 23,
2014
UMT is pleased to announce that it has been designated as a "2015 Military
Friendly School" by G.I. Jobs magazine. UMT has won the "Military
Friendly School" title four years consecutively. The 2015 Military Friendly
Schools designation is awarded to the top 15 percent of colleges, universities
and trade schools in the country that are doing the most to embrace military
students, and to dedicate resources to ensure their success in the classroom and
after graduation. UMT will be listed in the annual G.I. Jobs Guide to
Military Friendly Schools, distributed in print and digital format to
hundreds of thousands of active and former military personnel in early October
2014. It is also included in the online listing at militaryfriendly.com. See
UMT's listing at: gijobs.com/school/university-of-management-and-technology-the-1.
"Inclusion
on the 2015 list of Military Friendly Schools shows University of Management and
Technology's commitment to providing a supportive environment for military
students." says Sean Collins, Vice President for G.I. Jobs. "Colleges,
universities and trade schools on this year’s list exhibit leading practices in
the recruitment and retention of students with military experience. These
schools have world-class programs and policies for student support, academic
accreditation, credit policies, flexibility and other services to those who
served."
The 2015 list of Military Friendly Schools was compiled through
extensive research and a free, data-driven, survey of more than 10,000
VA-approved schools nationwide. The survey results that comprise the lists are
independently tested by Ernst & Young LLP based upon the weightings and
methodology established by Victory Media. Complete survey methodology is
available at http://militaryfriendly.com/methodology/schools. Each year
schools taking the survey are held to a higher standard than the previous year
via improved methodology, criteria and weightings developed with the assistance
of an Academic Advisory Board (AAB) consisting of educators from schools across
the country. A full list of board members can be found at http://militaryfriendly.com/advisory-board/schools.
UMT
offers need-based military scholarships for military personnel and their
dependents and veterans. Qualified military personnel and veterans can earn a
degree without any out-of-pocket expense after TA, GI Bill, or DANTES benefits
are applied. A free-of-charge Textbook Loan Program is available for active duty
personnel and dependents residing with them who are granted the UMT Military
Scholarship. Up to 75% of the required hours for an undergraduate and 50% for a
graduate degree can be transferred. UMT follows the AARTS, CCAF and SMART credit
guidelines. It accepts CLEP and DSST scores for college credit.
UMT is an
LOI school in the GoArmyEd system and a member of Servicemembers Opportunity
Colleges (SOC) Consortium. UMT is a university participant in USAF's Air
University's Associate-to-Baccalaureate Cooperative (AU-ABC) program. UMT is a
strategic partner of Defense Acquisition University (DAU). UMT is named
"Military Friendly School" by G.I. Jobs magazine in 2011, 2012, 2013,
2014 and 2015 and also named as one of the 2010-2011, 2011-2012, 2012-13,
