ARLINGTON, Virginia, April 29, 2011 – The UMT Beijing Alumni Association held its inaugural assembly on April 16, 2011. More than 150 alumni attended a music-filled gala. UMT's Academic Dean, Dr. J. Davidson Frame, formally launched the Alumni Association at an opening ceremony, and then the fun began.
The UMT Beijing Alumni Association is established and run entirely by alumni. It has a President and Board, who develop policies, promote interaction among alums, and organize events.
At the April 16 event, the 150+ attendees enjoyed an elaborate banquet. While enjoying refreshments and eating dinner, they were entertained by professional dancers who performed an array of dances, ranging from folk ballet from different provinces to modern dancing to belly dancing.
The establishment of the Beijing Alumni Association this Spring is a notable event for UMT in China. UMT began delivering academic programs in China in 2001, so the launching of the alumni association corresponds with the tenth anniversary of UMT degree offerings in China. During the decade of 2001-2011, more than 3,000 Chinese graduates have received UMT degrees. With the inauguration of the Beijing Alumni Association, graduates of the degree programs have an opportunity to develop a network of fellow-graduates, which strengthens UMT's presence in China and also provides alums opportunities to build friendships and business connections with other UMT grads.
