Course Format and Workload

1. In what format are the Project Management Suite™ courses?

A. Both the self-paced Project Management Suite and academic courses are offered online. Students may take any courses at any time and from any location in the world where they have access to a computer and the Internet.

2. What’s included in the courses?

A. Each Project Management Suite course offers the following:

  • Course lecture notes, which are organized by modules. They are presented online in an easy-to-read flash format.
  • Course textbook, which will be mailed to you once you sign up for the course.* It functions as a supplemental reading to the course. Depending upon your knowledge of the subject area, you can go through the book cover-to-cover or just review sections that deal with areas in which you need assistance.
  • Think & Review section with questions that cover the key terms and concepts in each lecture module. Answers are provided in popup boxes. This section is designed to help you prepare for the final exam.
  • Final exam consisting of a number of multiple-choice and true/false questions. Once you feel you have mastered the material, you should take the exam online. It is scored automatically. You will need to pass the exam in order to obtain the Certificate of Completion.
  • Certificate of Completion is issued upon successful exam completion. It will be emailed to you as soon as we confirm that you've passed the exam successfully.

The academic courses include course lecture notes, Think and Review, and assignments. Textbooks are not included in the tuition for academic courses.

* Students must purchase the textbook for UMT-PM006. PMP Exam Preparation separately.

3. What’s the average time needed to finish a course?

A. A 15-PDU course on average requires 15 hours of study and a 30-PDU course requires approximately 30 hours. The actual amount of time will depend on your previous knowledge of the subject and the block of time you can dedicate to the study. Ninety percent of our participants take between 1 week and 3 months to complete a single self-paced course while full-time working.

Academic courses are 45-PDU courses. Students are expected to complete their work within 11 weeks. However students can complete these courses at their own pace. Instructors have discretion over whether to grant extensions.

4. How long do I have to complete the course?

A. You may take up to six months to complete a self-paced course. Enrollment is effective the starting date your User ID and password are issued. From this date, you have six months to complete all materials. After six months of course access, you will be withdrawn from the course.

Academic courses are typically completed in 11 weeks.

Final Exam and Certificate of Completion

1. When can I take the final exam in a self-paced course?

A. Before taking the final exam on a self-paced course, you should study all the materials available to you, such as Think and Review questions and readings in the textbook.

In academic courses, the final exam usually takes the form of an assignments which students submit to the instructors.

2. What do I need to pass on the final exam in a self-paced course?

A. The final exam is self-administered. A receipt is shown immediately on the screen after you have submitted your answers. You will see a detailed result on which questions you answered correctly or incorrectly and your final grade (i.e., You got 85 out of 100 pts). Passing the exam requires the student to answer at least 80% of the questions correctly.

3. What if I don't pass the exam the first time in a self-paced course?

A. Although we don’t encourage retaking the exam, if you feel that the conditions under which you took the exam severely affected your exam result, please contact us via email at training@umtweb.edu and we will reset the exam result for you to retake the test. However, students may not take the final exam more than twice.

4. I have successfully passed the final exam, when will I receive my Certificate of Completion?

A. Once you have completed the final exam, please send us an email and let us know. We will confirm your exam results and send a Certificate of Completion if you have passed the course (you must earn a 80 out of 100 points on the final exam to pass). The Certificate will be emailed to you as soon as we confirm that you have successfully passed the final exam.

For academic courses, students need to complete all required course assignments. Once the final grade is given, we'll email you the Certificate of Completion.
