UMT Ranked
High Above Standards in Student Satisfaction
and Achievement in the DETC 2006 Annual Report
ARLINGTON,
Virginia, February 28, 2007 – On
26 February 2007, UMT received a congratulatory
letter from the Distance Education
and Training Council (DETC) regarding UMT's
continuing to meet the Standards of Accreditation.
As a DETC-accredited institution, UMT submits
a report annually on student satisfaction,
course completions, and graduation rates. The
report is reviewed by DETC and compared to
other accredited institutions.
Regarding student satisfaction,
UMT’s
2006 overall rating was 86 percent, compared
to the 75 percent requirement, based on over
1000 respondents. UMT's 2006 course complete
rate exceeded 98 percent, significantly above
the required 75 percent rate. Finally, of those
students who enrolled in degree programs from
1998 through 2006, 95 percent completed their
degrees on time.
"Overall UMT is pleased with the ratings and
completions achieved by our academic and
professional development courses and programs.
In the courses for which we have evaluations,
our students indicate they are accomplishing
their goals, would recommend their courses
to their friends, and are overall satisfied." said
Dr. C. Eric Kirkland, the Vice President
of UMT, "Our students work hard to
complete their educational goals. Our job
is to ensure that they satisfied with their
overall learning experiences."
