UMT Participates in Council of College and Military Educators (CCME) Annual Symposium
ARLINGTON, Virginia,
January 26, 2007 – The Council of College and
Military Educators (CCME) hosted its 2007 annual
symposium in Monterey, California, from January
22-25, 2007 at the Portola Plaza Hotel. Organizations
such DANTES and CLEP and many colleges and
universities were present at the symposium.
At the event, keynote speech sessions were
delivered by chief personnel from DoD, DANTES,
Air Force, Marine, Navy, SOC, and other military
or military-related organizations. These sessions
provided excellent information for schools
and the military on how to make education easier
for military active duty personnel and veterans.
"The actual sessions had a mixture of
ESOs and educators.
We all came together with a goal of trying
to make the military education industry run
smoother for every one involved." Ms.
Carley Brubaker, UMT Admission Counselor Team
Leader, who led UMT’s team at the event,
commented.
For the event, UMT focused on informing a large
number of people about UMT’s programs.
Representatives from UMT offered information
on its undergraduate, graduate, and professional
development programs. Ms. Brubaker noted, "Audiences
were especially impressed with UMT's
project and acquisition management courses,
as well as our PMI accreditation and the partnership
with DAU."
The Council of College and Military Educators
(CCME) is the only National Organization for
professional military educators. It is an outgrowth
of the California College and Military Educators
Association which was founded in 1972 to promote,
encourage, and deliver quality education to
all branches of the armed services.1 "It’s
exciting to represent UMT and able to create
a name at one of the countries largest military
education symposiums." Ms. Brubaker said
passionately about her experience at the symposium,
"Not to compare, but being at the same show
as University
of Phoenix and University of Maryland University
College and gaining just as much attention
was really amazing."
UMT’s Vice President, Dr. C. Eric Kirkland,
added, "CCME provides a forum for the
military-friendly schools such as UMT to exchange
information on our educational benefits and
opportunities for the military community. We
are excited to participate in this and future
symposiums hosted by the CCME."
