UMT’s MSCS and MSIT Degrees Launched

ARLINGTON, Virginia, September 15, 2005 - On September 6, 2005, UMT’s Vice President, Dr. C. Eric Kirkland, announced that UMT has received approval from the Distance Education and Training Council for two new degree programs: Master of Science in Computer Science (MSCS) and Master of Science in Information Technology (MSIT).

To better server our students’ diverse educational background and needs, UMT to separate its already accredited Master of Science in Computer Science and Information Technology into two degree programs with different areas of emphasis:

MSCS -- This degree program is geared to meet the needs of students who are oriented toward the theoretic end of the computer science spectrum as opposed to applications. Major include:

• Computer Science
• Software Engineering
• Multimedia Technology

MSIT -- This degree program is geared towards the needs of students who are oriented towards management and applications. Major include:.

• IT Project Management
• IT Management
• Management Information Systems (MIS)

Current students have the option to complete the prior MSCS&IT degree or to transfer to the MSCS or MSIT degree without charge.

Accredited by the Accrediting Commission of the Distance Education and Training Council, the University of Management and Technology provides undergraduate and graduate degree programs for working adults with specializations in business administration, computer science, information technology, management, project management, and acquisition management.
