Shanghai Alumni Association Established
ARLINGTON, Virginia,
August 22, 2003 - UMT Shanghai
Alumni Association was established at the
end of 2002.
A conference to announce
the establishment of the UMT Shanghai Alumni
Association was
held in Shanghai on December 14, 2002. Over
200 UMT local alumni attended the ceremony.
The president of the UMT Shanghai Alumni Association,
Mr. Reginald Hsu, said in a speech during the
ceremony, “The long-term goal of the
Alumni Association is to provide an online
community and a portal for all UMT alumni to
communicate, network, discuss special topics,
exchange academic ideas, and cooperate on projects.”
Honorary guests who attended the ceremony
include UMT Chief Representative, Mr. Wang
Kun; the Dean of MBA School of East China University
of Science and Technology, Mr. Mao XinZhuang;
and the manager of PEPC Shanghai International
Exchange Institute-Right Training Center, Mr.
Zhuang Xiaobing.
After the establishment
of the association, the Shanghai Alumni Website
was officially
launched on July 10, 2003. Mr. Reginald Hsu
wrote, “(UMT stands for) U – Unity,
Alumni gathered on one platform; M – Mind,
assemble everyone’s knowledge; T – Target,
fulfill the life-long target of you and me.”
The University’s Academic Dean, Dr.
J. Davidson Frame congratulated the establishment
of the association and the launch of its website.
In his letter he wrote, “As UMT’s
alumni, we hope all of you keep UMT’s
spirit of ‘committed to building futures’ alive
and use the knowledge you have learned and
schoolmates you have gained at the UMT to build
futures for yourself, your organization, your
beautiful city and your lovely country.”
UMT Shanghai Alumni page (http://www.umt-ecn.com)
is the first local alumni website launched
in China since the launch of the UMT China
Alumni site (http://www.umt-alumni.com.cn)
in 2001.
