ARLINGTON,
Virginia, June 3, 2003 - The
Defense Activity for Non-Traditional Education
Support (DANTES) has executed a memorandum
of understanding with UMT. With this agreement,
UMT is an officially recognized participant
in the DANTES Distance Learning Program. Mrs.
Kathy Westlake of DANTES stated, "We welcome
[UMT] as a new school in the DANTES Catalog
of Nationally Accredited Distance Learning
Programs!"
Dr. C. Eric Kirkland,
who leads UMT's North American operations,
commented, "We are
so pleased to be affiliated with this wonderful
organization! Everyone in the DANTES has been
so helpful in helping us package our application
and establish our relationship. DANTES' and
UMT's mutual goals are in complete accord:
We want to provide educational services to
the Military voluntary education program."
At present UMT is focusing its efforts on
informing potential students of its newly accredited
Acquisition
Management program. UMT also offers
the world's leading Project
Management program.
Dr. Yanping Chen, President
of UMT added, "In
every way possible, UMT is trying to provide outstanding
educational opportunities for the Military. In addition
to participating in the DANTES distance learning
program, we are approved for the Montgomery G. I.
Bill, and we are offering a significant scholarship
for active duty personnel. We're trying to give something
back to our service personnel."
Academic Dean J. Davidson
Frame said, "We're
also looking forward to expanding our MS in Computer
Science and Information Technology efforts within
the Military ranks, providing a major in Project
Management to complement our master's degrees in
management and our master of business administration."
