UMT
Expands Educational Programs to Serve the U.S.
Military
ARLINGTON,
Virginia, May 16, 2003 -
To better serve the educational needs of
U.S.
military personnel
and veterans,
UMT has launched a Military
Scholarship program.
Dr. Yanping Chen, President
of the University, said, “Our armed forces, more than anyone
else, need high quality distance education
programs. This is because the uniqueness of
military jobs requires the education programs
to be mobile and flexible enough to support
the students’ performance in their military
duties. To attend traditional face-to-face
university classes can be difficult and expensive
for military students. UMT’s high quality
distance education programs are sharpened by
our global and corporate education experience.
We are ready to offer the same high quality
programs to our armed forces.”
UMT's Military Tuition Scholarship reduces
the tuition from $390/credit-hour to $250/credit-hour.
UMT is affiliated with DANTES and is approved
for Veterans Administration G.I. Bill Education
Benefits.
Dr. C. Eric Kirkland,
Vice President of the University, is excited
to announce, "The
UMT Board of Trustees has decided to offer
a substantial tuition and fees scholarship,
plus a book scholarship, to all active duty
and selected reserve personnel. With these
scholarships, military students will be able
to receive a high quality education without
incurring any out-of-pocket expense!"
"We are excited about the opportunity
to offer quality education to our military
personnel." Dr. J. Davidson Frame, Academic
Dean of the University said, “UMT education
programs can provide our military personnel
cutting-edge knowledge in management and technology
to enhance their jobs performance and prepare
them to return to civilian life in the future.
Our master’s degrees in Project Management,
Acquisition Management, and Computer Science
and Information Technology are ideal for military
students."
UMT also offers an Executive
Certificate and a Graduate
Certificate in
Project Management.
These certificate programs dovetail with the
master’s degree, providing important
milestones toward the degree that are nationally
recognized.
Dr. Frame noted, “The
Executive Certificate prepares a person to
become a Project Management
Professional (PMP). The PMP qualification is
recognized throughout the world as a hallmark
of excellence in project management.”
