UMT Launches Curriculum Enrichment Packages for Self-Paced Online Courses under Mentors Studio™

ARLINGTON, Virginia, September 17, 2002 - Students in self-paced online courses will now be able to see and hear mentors under a new initiative launched by the University of Management and Technology.

Under the Mentors Studio™ program, UMT will produce movies on CD-ROMs designed to enrich the learning experiences of students. They will be able to watch MPEG movies on their computers in addition to reviewing course materials online.

"These CD-ROMs allow faculty members to provide students with the latest theories and practices in different areas of management," said UMT President Yanping Chen. "They significantly enhance the existing course materials."

UMT has produced Mentors Studio™ CD-ROMs for four self-paced online courses offered under the Project Management Suite™ program. The CD-ROMs include:

Tom Block, "Establishing a Project Office" (course: UMT-PM007. Establishing a Project Office)
J. Davidson Frame, "Critical Chain Scheduling" (course: UMT-PM010. Critical Chain and Time-boxed Scheduling)
Ed Naser and J. Davidson Frame, "The Quantitative vs. Qualitative Perspective in Risk Management" (course: UMT-PM253. Risk and Quality Management)
J. Davidson Frame, "Real Option Approach to Decision Making" (course: UMT-PM252. Project Finance and Budgeting)

"We plan to add additional CD-ROMs for other self-paced online courses in the year ahead," Dr. Chen added. "The university is also considering producing similar enhancement materials for our instructor-led online courses."
