UMT President Speaks on Voice of America

ARLINGTON, Virginia, June 12, 2002 - UMT President Yanping Chen has been invited as a frequent guest speaker on the Voice of America (VOA) to discuss higher education in the United States. Dr. Chen recently spoke as part of VOA's Youth Campus program, which was broadcast by radio in mandarin Chinese throughout China.

"American colleges and universities are considered to be the best in the world," Dr. Chen said. "The Chinese are very interested in how American universities function, how faculty members perform their duties, and how academic freedom is handled.

"Appearing on the VOA is an excellent opportunity to inform Chinese students about how the American education system works in general and types of programs UMT offers," she added.
