UMT to
Launch MBA Program in Shanghai
Students
to Focus on Project Management
ARLINGTON, Virginia,
August 22, 2001 - UMT, a world leader
in project management education, has reached
an agreement with a prominent
Shanghai university to launch a joint MBA program
this fall.
The agreement with the Eastern China University
of Science and Technology (ECUST) marks the
establishment of UMT's second degree program
in Shanghai, which is China's second largest
city. UMT also has an ongoing graduate program
in Beijing.
"We're very pleased to be working with
ECUST," said UMT President Yanping Chen. "We
believe that our two universities have complementary
strengths that will make this a fruitful partnership."
The agreement was reached during a recent
visit to Shanghai by Dr. Chen and UMT Academic
Dean J. Davidson Frame. The UMT officials met
with: Dongshan Zhang, ECUST vice president;
Regina Huang, vice-dean of the Business School;
Schihao Qian, managing dean of the Business
School; and other university administrators
and faculty members.
Founded in 1952, ECUST is a comprehensive
university with 14 schools and 12,000 students.
UMT will be working with the university's Business
School to deliver the courses.
An estimated 60 to 80 students will participate
in the 15-course MBA program, which begins
in October. The MBA program will focus on project
management, one of the hottest management fields.
Instructors from ECUST and UMT will teach the
courses.
UMT is a global leader in project management
education. UMT Dean J.
Davidson Frame, a renowned
expert on the discipline, designed the MBA
course. UMT's faculty also boasts Dr.
James P. Lewis, a prominent project management authority,
and Thomas Block, an expert on project offices.
