UMT Launches
PDU Suite 2001
ARLINGTON, Virginia,
March 23, 2001 - The University of Management and Technology
has launched a new online education program that
will allow projects managers to upgrade their
knowledge and skills while earning valuable Professional
Development Unit (PDU) credits.
PDU
Suite 2001™ consists
of five on-line management courses that go
beyond project basics.
The courses cover establishing a project office,
e-commerce, contracts, procurement, quality,
risk, and operations management.
"These courses cover some of the most
important areas that project managers must
grapple with today," said UMT Academic
Dean J. Davidson Frame. "They are presented
in an online format that makes it easy for
managers to improve their skills from the comfort
of their homes or offices."
The Suite is valuable for any project manager,
but is especially useful for managers who need
to earn PDU credits to maintain their standing
as Project Management Professionals (PMP's).
PMP's must earn 60 PDU's every three years
to maintain their standing with the Project
Management Institute (PMI). UMT is a PMI Registered
Education Provider.
"All courses in PMI Suite 2001 are fully
compliant with PMI's PMBOK© standards," Frame
said. "Each year, we revise the Suite
to reflect the latest thinking on the theory
and practice of project management."
PDU Suite 2001™ features
two self-paced courses: e-Commerce
and Projects and Establishing
a Project Office -- worth 15 PDU's.
The Suite also features three instructor-led
semester
courses: Contracts
and Procurement, Operations
Management, and Risk
and Quality Management -- for which students earn 45 PDU's.
Managers may review five modules of each self-paced
course for free. Students who wish for more
insights, and 15 PDU credits, must sign up
for the Enrichment Package, available at a
cost of only $425. The package includes:
- Full course modules
- Think & Review
section for each module
- Answers to the Think & Review
section
- Final exam
- Certificate of Completion
- Course
textbook.
Three instructor-led semester
courses last for 11 weeks and are the same
ones taught as
part of UMT's degree programs. Students must
study for a minimum of five hours per week.
Managers may take any
of the PDU Suite 2001™ courses
without formally applying for admission to
UMT. They may apply credit from the semester
courses toward the university's Master
of Science in Management, Master
of Science in Computer Science and IT, and MBA programs.
"This is a very valuable package of courses," Dr.
Frame said. "The courses cover areas that
are vital to effective project management in
today's competitive environment. Any project
managers, whether or not he or she is a PMP,
will benefit."
