UMT Provides
In-house Training to Firms in Shanghai
ARLINGTON, VA, December
20, 2000 - The University of Management and Technology
has formed a partnership with Business Alliance
and Associates (Shanghai) to provide in-house
management training to companies in Shanghai.
The partnership, which has been operating
since October, has provided training to 170
managers from Western and Chinese companies.
Students in the program came from Alcatel,
APP, and the Shanghai Pu Dong Economic Zone.
"We are thrilled to be offering these
training programs with our Chinese partner," said
UMT President Yanping Chen. "There is
a strong desire in China to adopt Western project
management practices."
The training covered a range of area, including
project management principles, scheduling and
cost control, and preparation for the Project
Management Professional examination.
The training programs were taught by UMT faculty
and instructors, including: Dr. William G.
Wells, chairman of UMT's Board of Trustees;
Dr. John Ronald Carey, adjunct professor; Robert
J. Voetsch, adjunct faculty; and Bryan Stambaugh,
instructor.
In a related program, UMT's second Executive
Certificate Program in Project Management program
will be completed at year's end in Shenzhen.
Thirty students are in the program, which is
being taught by UMT faculty members Larry Joseph
and Jody Uyanik.
