UMT Provides In-house Training to Firms in Shanghai

ARLINGTON, VA, December 20, 2000 - The University of Management and Technology has formed a partnership with Business Alliance and Associates (Shanghai) to provide in-house management training to companies in Shanghai.

The partnership, which has been operating since October, has provided training to 170 managers from Western and Chinese companies. Students in the program came from Alcatel, APP, and the Shanghai Pu Dong Economic Zone.

"We are thrilled to be offering these training programs with our Chinese partner," said UMT President Yanping Chen. "There is a strong desire in China to adopt Western project management practices."

The training covered a range of area, including project management principles, scheduling and cost control, and preparation for the Project Management Professional examination.

The training programs were taught by UMT faculty and instructors, including: Dr. William G. Wells, chairman of UMT's Board of Trustees; Dr. John Ronald Carey, adjunct professor; Robert J. Voetsch, adjunct faculty; and Bryan Stambaugh, instructor.

In a related program, UMT's second Executive Certificate Program in Project Management program will be completed at year's end in Shenzhen. Thirty students are in the program, which is being taught by UMT faculty members Larry Joseph and Jody Uyanik.
