UMT Launches
PDP Program;
Students Can Earn PDU Credits
ARLINGTON, VA, April
12, 2000 - UMT has launched a Professional
Development Program (PDP) designed
to help project managers sharpen their skills.
The PDP effort consists of 34 courses that last
from one day to a full semester. They provide
specific knowledge about management areas that
are vital for managers who want to thrive in
modern organizations.
The PDP courses are perfect for managers who
want to:
- develop their project management
skills.
- prepare for the Project Management
Professional Certification examination.
- obtain Professional
Development Units (PDUs) required to
maintain their PMP certification.
The 34 offerings
are divided into short courses and semester
courses.
Short
Courses last between one and five days.
They allow managers to improve their skills in
a variety of areas, including effective estimation,
establishing a project office, benefit-cost analysis,
and managing global projects.
Short courses can be customized to meet client
needs and are held on site or at UMT's Arlington,
VA campus. Participants who successfully complete
a course receive 7 PDUs for each day of training.
Semester Courses are intensive one-semester examinations
of advanced techniques in project management
and other relevant areas.
These courses are the same ones given as part
of UMT's master's degree programs. Students may
take the courses on a non-degree basis and must
register along with other UMT students.
Semester Courses are given at UMT's Arlington
campus and through distance education. You can
learn from the the comfort of your home or office.
Students who successfully complete each semester
course will receive 45 PDUs.
Project Management Professionals are required
to attain no fewer than 60 PDUs within a three-year
cycle in order to maintain their certification.
UMT is a recognized provider registered with
the PMI Global Registered Education Provider
Program (PMI REP). UMT accepts and adheres to
all PMI REP Program policies, requirements, and
rules concerning the provision of professional
education activities and materials.
