Elected to Project Management Institute Board
ARLINGTON, VA, January
15, 2000 - UMT Academic Dean J. Davidson Frame has been
elected
to the
Board of Directors of the Project Management
Institute (PMI).
As a director of the 13-member board, Dr. Frame
will help lead the 51,000-member organization
until 2003. PMI, based in Broomall, Pa., is the
world's premier project management association.
"It's a great honor to be elected to the
board," Dr. Frame said. "I look forward
to working with other board members to bring
project management into the new century."
He had been involved with PMI for many years.,
Dr. Frame served as PMI's Director of Certification
from 1990-1996 and as the Director of Educational
Services from 1996 to 1998. He won PMI's Distinguished
Service Award (1994) and Person of the Year Award
(1995). He is a certified Project Management
Professional (PMP).
Dr. Frame has been a major player in project
management education and training since the late
1970s. He has written six books and more than
thirty scholarly articles. His Managing Projects
in Organizations (1995) is a business book bestseller.
His most recent book, Project Management Competence,
was published in July 1999.
Prior to founding UMT, Frame served as a Professor
of Management Science at George Washington University
(1979-1998), where he was Chairman of the Management
Science Department (1988-89), Director of the
Program of Science, Technology and Innovation
(1981-86), and Director of the International
Center for Project Management Excellence (1995-98).
He also established a Master of Science in Project
Management degree program at GW.
