UMT Students
Gain Access to GMU Libraries
ARLINGTON, VA, 24 August
1999 - UMT students now have access privileges
at the libraries of
George Mason University thanks to a recent agreement
reached by the universities. Students will be
able to conduct research at and check materials
out from GMU’s four libraries in Northern
Virginia.
“This agreement marks a major expansion
of the services we offer to our students,” said
Jody T. Uyanik, UMT’s director of Student
Services. “As a small university, it would
be difficult for us to provide the full library
services that our students need. This arrangement
fills that gap.”
The agreement covers all
of GMU’s library
facilities except its law library in Arlington.
Fenwick Library, GMU’s
main facility, is located on the Fairfax campus.
The library
has a full range of print and audio visual resources
covering a wide variety of areas.
GMU’s Johnson
Center Library is also located on the Fairfax campus.
JCL is an electronic gateway
library that provides access to electronic resources
on campus and on the World Wide Web.
The Arlington Campus
Library’s
collection has an international focus, specializing
in international
transactions, international commerce and trade,
and related areas. ACL is a depository for European
Union documents.
GMU’s Prince William
Campus Library focuses on the areas of education,
biotechnology, business,
computer science, health, fitness, recreation
resources management, and criminal justice.
Users can conduct searches
of GMU’s collections
online. To get started, point your browser to
library.gmu.edu. The site also includes descriptions
of the libraries as well as their locations.
In order to use GMU’s
libraries, students need to obtain a library
card from UMT. An annual
fee is charged for this service. Please contact
UMT for more information.
