UMT To
Provide Management Training in China
ARLINGTON, Virginia,
September 27, 1998 - UMT
is working on plans to conduct joint management
education and training programs with a number
of Chinese institutions.
The university is working
on developing programs with three leading Chinese
universities: Beijing
Polytechnic University, Huazhong University of
Science & Technology in Wuhan, and Northwestern
Polytechnical University in Xi’an.
UMT President Yanping
Chen said the joint efforts will cover a range
of education activities. Students
at the Chinese universities will take courses
in China followed by a residency period at UMT’s
campus in Arlington, VA. UMT will send its professors
to China to teach and also provide management
education training to Chinese professors.
“We're pleased to be working with these
three prestigious universities,” Chen said. “These
joint programs will benefit education programs
in both the United States and China. We will
ensure that high educational standards are maintained
in this joint program.”
UMT has also concluded a separate agreement
with the China Export Bureau Training Center
to implement project management education and
training programs throughout China.
UMT officials recently
completed a trip to China during which a range
of cooperative activities
were discussed. These activities include Chinese
students taking master’s degree courses
at UMT, an exchange of scholars, and various
project management training initiatives in China.
UMT and Chinese officials will be working on
to implement these plans in 1999 and 2000.
