Bachelor of Science in Engineering Management
 

The undergraduate engineering management program is a 120 semester credit hours program comprised of a two-year, lower-level Associate of Science in Engineering Management (ASEM) and a follow on two-year, upper-level Bachelor of Science in Engineering Management (BSEM).

A maximum of 75 percent of the required credit hours may be transferred toward either program and 25 percent of the credit hours may include credit for relevant professional and work experience.

BSEM PROGRAM

The BSEM requires completion of a total of 120 semester credit hours of instruction, 60 of which are at the upper level (junior and senior years). Students must have completed a minimum of 60 semester credit hours of college-level studies at the lower level (freshman and sophomore years). Within the required 120 semester credit hours a student must also complete at least 30 semester credit hours in General Education in order to receive a BSEM degree.

The program objectives for students who major in engineering management at the undergraduate level are:

  • To understand the roles of engineers, engineering and technology in modern society
  • To apply quantitative and analytical methods to analyze and solve technical problems
  • To apply knowledge and skills to design processes to meet business needs in a technological environment
  • To apply technology and business knowledge and skills to foster technological innovation and entrepreneurship
  • To integrate technological and business knowledge and skills to promote and market innovations and new technology products
  • To apply systems engineering and business management knowledge to manage R&D, engineering design, production, operations, resources allocation, HR, finance, marketing and sales in technology and engineering organizations
  • To apply leadership and communication skills to lead engineers and technical personnel to accomplish organizational goals and objectives

Additional 21-credit electives may be taken from courses offered at the undergraduate or graduate level including courses in the area of humanities, social sciences and psychology.
