As part of its Health Administration program, UMT offers
the Bachelor of Health Administration (BHA) degree. The main objective of
the BHA is to provide a coherent curriculum of studies that will result in
students being able to demonstrate their:
- Understanding of foundation concepts and advanced topics
in health administration and related disciplines.
- Understanding of management theory and practice, especially as
applied to health administration.
- Ability to conduct health information searches using up-to-date
information technology.
- Knowledge of general education topics consistent with graduates
of bachelor degree programs, including knowledge of English composition
and technical writing, history and world civilizations, economics,
psychology, sociology, government, mathematics, and statistics.
- Ability to understand basic statistics and research methods and
to apply this knowledge as an informed consumer of research in health administration.
A maximum of 90 credit-hours may be transferred toward the degree
and of these, up to 30 may be for relevant professional and work experience.
Curriculum
The BHA degree requires completion of a total of 120
credit-hours of instruction. The curriculum is divided into three areas:
- Core courses (30 credit-hours)
- BHA Electives (60 credit-hours)
- General Education Electives (30 credit-hours)
The core courses address the fundamental topics that
are relevant to health administration, including health services, healthcare
law and ethics, epidemiology and community health, information technology for
healthcare, health organization management, healthcare management, health services
marketing, managed care, long-term care management and health politics and policy.
BHA Electives provide more in-depth coverage in the management discipline to meet
the needs and interests of students. Within the required 120 credit-hours,
a student must also complete at least 30 credit-hours in General Education
to receive a BHA degree

$ HA101 is mandatory for students who neither
have prior work experience in the field of Health Administration nor have
taken similar course prior to enrolling in this program.
