Bachelor in Business Administration

The Bachelor's degree in Business Administration (BBA) is a degree-completion program comprising 60 credit-hours of instruction at the upper level (junior and senior years). Students entering the BBA program already will have completed a minimum of 60 credit-hours of college-level studies at the lower level (freshman and sophomore years), either at UMT or at another appropriately accredited institution.

The curriculum is divided into three areas:

  • Core courses (30 credit-hours)
  • Major areas of concentration (15 credit-hours)
  • Electives (15 credit-hours)

The core courses address the fundamental topics in undergraduate business education, including management, marketing, finance, statistics, business law and ethics, management information systems, entrepreneurship and small business management, and business policy and strategy.

Majors provide more-in-depth coverage of specific content areas, such as information technology.

The degree program concludes with a two-course sequence. The first of these is an in-depth course in entrepreneurship. It is followed by a capstone course in business policy and strategy.

Students must complete a minimum of 60 semester hours, including at least 15 credit-hours of general education courses, to qualify for the associate’s degree; and 120 credit-hours of instruction, including at least 30 credit-hours of general education courses, to qualify for the bachelor’s degree.

The maximum transfer credits that will be allowed for any student enrolling in the BBA program is 90 credit-hours. All students will complete a minimum of 30 credit-hours of instruction with UMT as required by the Distance Education and Training Council (DETC), UMT’s accrediting body.
